After a COVID hiatus, it was a grand return to working on SDC’s committee for the Broadway Flea Market benefitting BCEFA. The director and choreographer union had a strong day, raising $4,395 and contributing to the overall day’s total of $753,321 that will immediately go to work in the form of grants distributed across the country. SDC’s motto is “Unite, Empower, Protect”, and I’m so proud to participate in this union and in these fundraising efforts, joining with the theatrical community in making a difference!

To raise awareness of the contributions of directors and choreographers to the Broadway landscape, I developed a mix-and-match game where contestants had to pair creative teams to their currently-running shows. My ‘Scrambled Broadway’ challenge constantly drew contestants from the assembled shoppers and truly tested their knowledge of Broadway trivia, and I’m so thrilled that this new development proved a hit with fans and will be a union branding opportunity in the coming years.
